珍事 Happening

ムードある電車内？　いいえ、何かトラブルがあって停車した電車の車内。　何かのチェックということで消灯…。　23時もまわり終電を焦る人もいたのでは！？
A romantic mood train car? No. The other day, due to some trouble, train was stopped and light turned off for checkup. It was after 23:00 and some people must have worried about their last train....

シーズンを早撮り。ジンジャーブレッドハウス。子供は"作る"より"つまむ"がお好きなようです…。

フワフワ fluffy

タオルを干すとき、20回ぐらいバタバタと扇ぐように振ると、タオルの目が立ってフワフワに乾くそうだ。　テレビで見たんだけど、誰かやってみたかな？

Waving a towle before drying them will soften it just like how soft it was when towles are new.  Saw about it on TV the other day, but I wonder if any one has tried.

Got Thai? is read and pronounced Guttai in Japanese, which means "connect", "combine", "merge"....  Did I have to explain this???

循環 Circulation

家族の肥やしは皆の愛！この土に帰ろうとする葉っぱと一緒。　小さな思い出がひとつヒトツ土にかえり、来年また楽しい思い出を作る。　知ってか知らずしてか、繰り返しそそぐ愛が、さらに大きな愛を生む。
Love is the best vitamin for family! Like these leaves on a soil.  One by one, memories returns to soil to produce life to the tree above in the following year.  Knowingly, or unknowingly, repeatedly poured love will bring another greater love.

ハイカラ Hip

中学の頃、おふくろが車の中で「ニューヨークの人間ヲッチは面白い」と言っていたが、今思えばファッションの事を言っていたのだろうな。僕は当時、変な奴ばかり居て奇妙だし怖い、としか思っていなかった。１９８０年代の話です♬
Long time ago, I remember when I was in a car with my mom, she said "people watch in New York is fun!".  I suppose she was talking about fashion, but I could only think people back than was weird and scary.  It was in the good old 80's♬

スムース Smooth

これはナンでしょう！水平線？地平線？氷の上？ビルの壁？

ぷしゅー Phzyooo

水、噴射、上向き、落下、弁当。昼下がりの公園にある噴水には、天気になればお弁当を持って集う人多し。お弁当もおいしかっただろうな〜。
Water, propellant, straight up, fall, lunch box.  Under a beautiful sunshine, many business man/woman brings there lunch box and sit by a water fountain.  I suppose their lunch should be yummy.

要ブレーキ Equip Brakes

自転車は好きだけど、シングルギアのピストには乗った事無いなぁ・・・。　坂道とかどうよ？
Although I like bicycles, I have not tried pista, a single geared racer type no brake bike.  How is riding up hills like?

目撃者 Eye witness

この明かりは街道の歴史を見、語ると同時に通行の安全を確保する電燈。この先もずっと残されるでしょう。
This streetlight has witnessed and will tell us history, as it will also keep the streets safe.  It sure will stand here for many more years.

作用 Force

どんなに複雑な形をしても、そこに通っている柱は理由があり、すべての構造を支えている。他に自然が想定外の力をかけない限り（地震とか突風とか）そこに立ち続ける。
ビジネスや人間関係は、どれほど基礎がしっかりしていようと良くも悪くも感情や情報に左右されやすい。さて、どんな部分を補強してまた軌道にのせようか？
This complicated structure stands still with all the necessary columns and parts.  Unless natural force causes the structure to fail, it will stand.
Business and human relationship is fragile to misunderstandings and misleadings.  Now we are aught to find the way to restructure a small business.

物理 Physics

この角を見上げた１５８メートル上にビルの天辺がある。山ならなだらかな傾斜を経て頂上に至るのは自然の法則であり物理的に当たり前だけど、ビルはいきなり垂直に頂上まで続く。もちろん強度計算や物理的根拠に基づいてこんな事が出来るんだよね・・・。すごいよね、怖いよね・・・。
The top of this building sits 158m (518ft) above this corner.  Mountain by nature, must have a slope to prevent from collapsing.  It is no doubt that this building is standing accordingly to structural strength calculated upon intelligent study.  Isn't it amazing, and frightening?

日和 A perfect day for

今日は写真日和だった。竹芝桟橋でジョギングしてる人にもジョギング日和だったろうな。
Today was a beautiful day perfect for shooting photos.  This jogger on a deck at Takeshiba pier perhaps thought it was a perfect day for jogging.

東京の紅葉！？ Autumn leaves in Tokyo!?

浜離宮入り口を堀の対岸に望む小さな紅葉、赤と黄色はすてきに青に映える。
Showing Hamarikyu Park in the background, a little bit of autumn leaves shows beautiful read and yellow under blue sky.

史跡 Historical Monument

１００年ぐらい前、第一京浜の辺りに運河があり、橋が架かり、踏切があった。この辺（銀座）あたりで唯一残された踏切は横断歩道の脇にポツネンと残され、線路が無いのでいかにも面白い風景だけど、歴史が街の顔つきを変える事を実感する場所。
Only 100 years ago, when this area (Ginza) had canal, bridges, and rail road, this rail road cross signal was in use.  Today, it only stands on the side of a street light to demonstrate city development and a footage of existence and history.

欲しい空 Favorite Sky

都会の小さな秋。今日は気温は気温が高いと言うより日差しが強く雲もほとんど見られない一日。アメリカから飛行機で日本に帰ってくるとドンヨリゲンナリな天気が常だが、こんな日に帰ってくると爽やかなのにな♪
A small autumn in the city.  Sky was crystal clear with no clowds, not hot but sun was shining very strong, and was a perfect day for shooting photos.  When coming back from US, usually sky is dead cloudy but I wish to see this!!!

パッチワーク Patchwork

掘削、破壊、改装、新築。建築や土木によって施設やインフラの整備を行う事は町づくりにとって大切。頑張ってほしい！　でも、歴史を消したり景観を崩さないで。
Digging, demolition, reformation, and new development.  Building new facilities and constructing new infrastructure is important for developing cities.  I hope their hard work pays off but only wish not to destroy history and make scenery eyesore.

タクシー TAXI

運転技術が高いと思いたいが、実際乱暴でへたくそなドライバーが大半。回転を早めるためにさっさと目的地に行きたいのは分かるが、イライラするし気分も悪くなる。だから僕は車に乗った時「ヨイヤスイのでヤワラカく走ってください」と言う。最近のドライバーは結構対応が良く、気持ちよく走ってくれる事が多くなってきた。
Though I wish drivers to drive softly, there are too many drivers who drive recklessly.  It is understandable that they want to transport as many customers as they can.  But when they drive roughly, it is very much irritating and I get sick.  So, whenever I take a taxi, I ask the driver "I get car sick easily, so please drive softly".  These days, drivers are more sincere and they drive softly as I wish.

新宿３丁目あたり Around Shinjuku 3-Chome

東京は新宿区の歴史博物館が三栄町辺りにある。新宿にゆかりがある僕としては、非常に興味深く見学する事が出来た。昔も今もほとんど変わらない区画や、今も残る道路と聞くと、すごくその時代に戻ってみたくなるが、この博物館でそれが少し実現できた。
今エコエコって言うけど、たったの１３０年ぐらい前までのどかな田園風景が新宿区にもあり、空気も水もさぞかしおいしかったろう・・・。
There is a Museum of Shinjuku-Ku in Sanei-Cho.  As I have family house in Shinjuku-Ku, it was an exciting place to visit.  When I hear that blocks and area, or streets lay there since hundreds of years ago, I always wish I could visit the area in those days.  The museum virtually brought me to those era and I was able to experience daily life of old days.
Today, we are all obsessed about ecology, but only about 130 years ago Shinjuku-Ku had acres of crops and there were almost no cars, facilities, and factories that poisons the air and water.

恵み Charity

東京は世田谷区のとある住宅の壁、ご親切に井戸が備わっている。災害時にはきっと役に立つと思うが、まさにオアシスとなるだろう。

The owner of this house is so generous to put a well pump out side on its house wall.  Should any disastrous incident happens, the well will become a oasis for sure.

よくね？ Ain't KEWL?

グラフィティはある意味アーティスティックな物もあると思う。上手に、というか、文字を崩したなりにバランスよく掛けていればの話。へたくそなグラフィティは「TOY」と書かれ、不名誉レッテルを貼られる。デザインシブなグラフィティは好きだが、公共の場に書くのはマナー違反。せっかくのアートも意味が無くなる・・・。
Graffiti is one great art when it comes to broken letters designed well.  Graffiti that its design is not so good are called, and written "TOY" over the graffiti.  Good design graffiti is cool, but its author has to have high morality and not write on public places and utility, otherwise its value will be destroyed.

皆家族 We Are Family

丘の上の小屋。防災用なのか、整備用なのか、多摩川の川原にこんもり盛った小さな丘の上にポツリ。壁のたくさんのグラフィティのなかに書かれた「We Are Family」のメッセージはいいのだが、スプレーで伝えなくても…。
By the bank of Tama River, on a little man-made hill, this little building stands.  Among many gratify, there says "We Are Family", which is good as a message, but why was it had to be sprayed on a property I suspect does not belong to whoever wrote it....

多摩川と日 Tama River and Sun

多摩川の水は、だいぶ綺麗。むかしは、いろんな物が流れていた様に記憶するけど、浄化技術が向上したのか、川沿いのモラルが向上したのか。両方なのか？
Water of Tama-River seems very clean.  I remember lots of things floating around and dirty, but is it the better filtration system, or higher morality, or both contributing to clearer water?

壁 WALL

困難にぶち当たり、くじけないように応援する時、「壁を乗り越えろ」みたいなことを言う。ところで、ツタってなんで壁に貼付くことが出来るんだろう？
When we encounter obstacle, we tell our selves to "climb over the wall".  By the way, why ivy can stick on walls?

ホテルの庭園 Hotel Garden

うちの庭のすすきの穂も黄金色に輝く季節が。　ふふふ。　こんな庭があったらいいねぇ♪

Pampas Grass in my garden has turned its color into gold.  hehehe.  Off course in MY garden, which costs nothing just saying.... :)

威風 Authority

学生寮だろうか？　木造３階建てのこのアパートは、もはや歴史的建造物。　出窓っぽいデザインの窓や戸袋は完全に昭和の香りがする。　奥の土手の上に建つアパートにはいったいどんな住民が暮らしたのかな？　たくさんの夢をかき集めて映画にしてみてみたい。
A dorm?  This 3 story wooden apartment looks like a historical building that could have been built in the early Showa era.  I can imagine that the very classic design windows and doors displaying so many dreams of the residents over the long history.

今日は健康診断。先週は風邪を引きましたが、完治の今体調はすこぶる良い。昼顔がビルの３階までの壁を覆い尽くし僕の健康レベルを表しているようだ。それにしても、こんなに大きくなるには、どれくらいの時間が必要だったろう？
Today was my health check-up.  Despite the fact I caught A-virus Influenza, I was proven healthy as a lion!  Thousands of convolvulus covering a 3 story building wall looks like my health barometer.  I wonder how long it took to grow this big.

箸 Chopsticks

碗の上には箸壱膳。このお碗にはどんな食事が盛られるのであろう？　白飯、赤飯？　おかず、スープ？　豆腐、お肉？　お新香、デザート？　う〜ん、晩ご飯食べて来ヨット。
A set of chopsticks on a bowl.  What kind of feast will it provide us?  White or red rice, appetizer or soup, tofu or meat, pickles or desert?  Grrr, got hungry.

子供美術 Kids Art

子供が造った青空博物館？　代々木公園の向かいにある、小さな公園に並べられた小さなオブジェたちは、近所の子供たちが作った物か？　子供たちよ、土、木、水に常に触れて大きく育て！

Outdoor museum of kids art?  Neighbor kids displays artistic monuments on the top of a wall along a little park in front of Yoyogi Park.  Grow wildly playing in the nature kids!

トラック Truck

運ばないといけない荷物があるんでしょ？　ママチャリの籠じゃ足りないのでは？　このくらいデカくないと、これくらい。
Don't you need a bigger cargo on your bike?  Your bike don't seem to have big enough cargo space, wanna use this super combo bike?

初心否忘 Don't forget your first steps

電車かて、いつもレールがしっかりしているわけじゃない。　たまに、枕木の下の砂利を均さないと、変な空洞が出来て脱線を招きかねない。　日頃なれ合いになっていることは無いか？
Rail roads are not always stable.  Sometimes, pebbles underneath the rail tie (sleeper) must be even-out to prevent from the train derailing.  Are we all not forgetting the fundamentals?

扇ぐ Waving

多方面に被害が及び、改めて自然のすごさを認識する台風が過ぎて、被害をあざ笑うかのような晴天も皮肉のように見える。
Despite the damage Typhoon 18 made, sky clears as if it does not care what is left behind.

蓮 Lotus

親友の高価な玩具のオフ会をのぞいてきた。　実にうらやましい玩具だ・・・。　思い思いのパーツやカラーをお披露目して、自分の車のプロモーションをしていた。僕が、ラジコンに凝っていた時代を思い出す。金額のケタが少し違うけど。

Today was an off-meeting for Lotus freaks.  They meet up to showoff their special colors, parts, and design.  It reminded me of the days I was into RC cars, which the only difference is the digits on the price tag....

至福の時 The True Moment

三茶の鯉 San-Chya Carp

友人が自転車を買ったので納車に立ち会った。自転車はさておき、人口の小川が遊歩道にあり、そこを鯉が悠々と泳いでいた。クジラの声みたいな音は、おそらく鯉かが発している！？

My friend got a brand new Hooligan, so we went to the bike shop to get it.  On the way to the bike shop, in a little man-made creek along a promenade, there were carps.  The sound seems to come from the carp!?

昼飯 LUNCH

ハンバーガーはやはり、ジューシーで肉肉しく分厚いやつが良い！
出来れば、チャーコールで焼きたい♪

Hamburgers must be thick, 100% beef, and tender!

I would also like it to be cooked over charcoal♪

誓い COMMITMENT

教会で結婚式を挙げると、神父様の前で、神様に生涯愛し合うことを誓う。
夫婦は、それまで育った別々の環境を、同じ屋根の下で分かち合うことになる。　夫婦それぞれの理解を円で表すと、それぞれの円は結婚の時点では一定の理解を分かち合うことから、重なる部分が出来る。　しかし、どれほど愛し合ったとしても、価値観や理解度には違いが生じるため、「価値観の違い」という感覚が生まれる。　結局、夫婦は老いて昇天しても円の重なりは一部にとどまる。
僕らがするべきことは、そのときの重なりの多さを気にするのでは無く、一生かけて重なりをより大きくすることに注力すること。

We commit our eternal love through priest to God.

Before Bride and groom is married by priest, they have only little tiny mutual understanding about each other.  Each person has one ring of "understanding", or individual value in their mind that was learned through its own life.  When wife and husband has mutual understanding, their ring will partially overlap with eachother.

However, their rings will never overlap fully.

What is important for wives and husbands are not to worry about overlapping size, but to find mutual values to expand the overlapping area.

Sun light through the lattice, a new start of a day.  Okay, time to go!

観覧車は静かに、綺麗に一周して戻ってくる。　ジェットコースターはジグザグギッコンばったんあちこち向いて、やっぱり一周して戻る。　人間が作ったもの。
Ferris wheel quietly, and roller coaster wildly  goes round and round only to come back to where it started.  It is something human built.

ゴール GOAL

大きなゴール、小さなゴール、重要なゴール、通過点にすぎないゴール。　僕は学生の頃、学校に入ることがゴールだと思っていた。　でも、今は違う。　死ぬときに笑顔で死ねる人生を送ることがゴール。
Great goal, tiny goal, important goal, and a goal that is just a check point.  I used to think passing an entrance exam was one big goal.  But, now I want to die happily, which is my goal.

クジラみたいな船 A Boat Like a Whale

お茶の水付近を縫って流れる神田川。　いろんなゴミが浮かんでる（た？）。　瓶や缶やビニール袋。　しかし、そんな心苦しい光景を、心強いマシーンが解決！　この船、真ん中が開いていて、水を飲み込んでいる感じ。　飲み込んだ水はネットで漉され、船が通った後は綺麗♪
Litter in Kanda River that wives through Ochano-Mizu is one of a things not pleasant seeing.  But, there is a super boat that solves this problem.  This boat has a big opening in the front and swallows water as it moves forward.  Than, the net inside the opening collects objects that floats in the water for cleaning.

ヤッツケ仕事 Scamped Work

まぁ、たまには息抜きも必要だ。　手を抜くことだってあるでしょう。　職人が、「チャッチャと終わらせちゃえ」的に仕事をするのをヤッツケ仕事と言う。
で、これ。　看板ぐらい、ズラしてあげても良かったのでは？

Some times, we need to rest.   We may even cut corners during work.  When a workman cut corners of their work, it is called "Yattsuke Shigoto", or "rough and ready work", which can easily be said "negligence". 

This sign board.  Couldn't it be at least moved just enough not to be bolted on to the wall?

文化 Culture

一日の勤めを終え、家路の途に。　最近の節約志向で、残業が減った。　家庭サービスが増えることになるのだろうか？　欧米風に仕事と余暇のバランスにメリハリをつけるのは良い。　後は、日本の文化をそれに合わせるだけ。　それがいつ果たせるかだ。
Evening rush hour, people head towards home.  Because of the saving-mind resulting from the economic situation, over time work has shrunken.  It is pleasing to see more segregation between on and off duty like US and European countries do.  All Japanese has to do is to adjust culturally, if that is ever possible.

記憶 Memory

と～もークン！　あぁ～そぉ～ぼぉっ！
僕が子供のころ、夕方前、団地のここそこで、子供たちが友達の家の前やベランダの方から叫んで遊びに誘った。　いわゆる、アポなし訪問だけど、呼べば大概居るものだった。　缶蹴り、プラ野球（プラスティックバットで野球）、泥警、探検が主な遊び。　中でも、泥警はものすごく緊張する楽しい遊びだった。　足の速さ以外に、相手の居そうな場所や、タイミングを計算するのに知恵が要った。　団地の廊下や階段は、使いようで、危険でもあり、巧い抜け道にもなった。
この日は休日だったが、子供の声は無く、ひっそりとしていた。　あったのは、僕の記憶を呼び起こす、近所の団地にもあった、造りがそっくりな廊下。
To-Mo-Kun! Are-You-Home!?
When we were kids, we used to yell out friend's names from down stairs to invite out to play with.  No appointment was necessary, because we were all expecting some one to invite, and be invited otherwise.  Games were, hide and seek to steal the can, robbers cops, plastic bat base ball. What was extremely exciting was the robbers cops.  Usually, if there are 10 kids, 2 or 3 will play cops to catch the robbers.  If a robber is caught, they will be taken to the jail (some particular place such as a little space by a big tree) until other robbers come out and tuch for help.  It needed speed and timing control, and brave heart.  The hall way of apartment building was a great run away place, and easily caught place at the same time.
This day, although it was a holiday, there were no signs of kids running and cheering around this very old apartment building.  Just a memory of mine was reminded by a similar design construction.

とおせんぼ Blockage

このゲートはどれくらいここに立っているのかしら？　幅が狭いのは、歩行者用入口に車が進入するのを防止するため。　両方の柱のトップは、皆が触ったり叩いたりで、いびつな感じに。　これから先も、何年も通せんぼしていくのだな。

This little rail blocks cars from entering pedestrian rout.  Its pillar top is been pat and hit for years and years that has dents and scratches.  How many more years will it be here, keep up with the good work.

超花 Super Flower

実家近くの須賀神社入口にある石造りの門柱の上。　ケナゲにもヒビから草花が咲き、神社の参拝者を迎えては見送っている。　自然の力はすごい！
On the top of a concrete gate column, a little flower is greeting visitors to the Suga Shrine near my mom's house she grew up in.  What a nature power!
