観覧車は静かに、綺麗に一周して戻ってくる。　ジェットコースターはジグザグギッコンばったんあちこち向いて、やっぱり一周して戻る。　人間が作ったもの。
Ferris wheel quietly, and roller coaster wildly  goes round and round only to come back to where it started.  It is something human built.

ゴール GOAL

大きなゴール、小さなゴール、重要なゴール、通過点にすぎないゴール。　僕は学生の頃、学校に入ることがゴールだと思っていた。　でも、今は違う。　死ぬときに笑顔で死ねる人生を送ることがゴール。
Great goal, tiny goal, important goal, and a goal that is just a check point.  I used to think passing an entrance exam was one big goal.  But, now I want to die happily, which is my goal.

クジラみたいな船 A Boat Like a Whale

お茶の水付近を縫って流れる神田川。　いろんなゴミが浮かんでる（た？）。　瓶や缶やビニール袋。　しかし、そんな心苦しい光景を、心強いマシーンが解決！　この船、真ん中が開いていて、水を飲み込んでいる感じ。　飲み込んだ水はネットで漉され、船が通った後は綺麗♪
Litter in Kanda River that wives through Ochano-Mizu is one of a things not pleasant seeing.  But, there is a super boat that solves this problem.  This boat has a big opening in the front and swallows water as it moves forward.  Than, the net inside the opening collects objects that floats in the water for cleaning.

ヤッツケ仕事 Scamped Work

まぁ、たまには息抜きも必要だ。　手を抜くことだってあるでしょう。　職人が、「チャッチャと終わらせちゃえ」的に仕事をするのをヤッツケ仕事と言う。
で、これ。　看板ぐらい、ズラしてあげても良かったのでは？

Some times, we need to rest.   We may even cut corners during work.  When a workman cut corners of their work, it is called "Yattsuke Shigoto", or "rough and ready work", which can easily be said "negligence". 

This sign board.  Couldn't it be at least moved just enough not to be bolted on to the wall?

文化 Culture

一日の勤めを終え、家路の途に。　最近の節約志向で、残業が減った。　家庭サービスが増えることになるのだろうか？　欧米風に仕事と余暇のバランスにメリハリをつけるのは良い。　後は、日本の文化をそれに合わせるだけ。　それがいつ果たせるかだ。
Evening rush hour, people head towards home.  Because of the saving-mind resulting from the economic situation, over time work has shrunken.  It is pleasing to see more segregation between on and off duty like US and European countries do.  All Japanese has to do is to adjust culturally, if that is ever possible.

記憶 Memory

と～もークン！　あぁ～そぉ～ぼぉっ！
僕が子供のころ、夕方前、団地のここそこで、子供たちが友達の家の前やベランダの方から叫んで遊びに誘った。　いわゆる、アポなし訪問だけど、呼べば大概居るものだった。　缶蹴り、プラ野球（プラスティックバットで野球）、泥警、探検が主な遊び。　中でも、泥警はものすごく緊張する楽しい遊びだった。　足の速さ以外に、相手の居そうな場所や、タイミングを計算するのに知恵が要った。　団地の廊下や階段は、使いようで、危険でもあり、巧い抜け道にもなった。
この日は休日だったが、子供の声は無く、ひっそりとしていた。　あったのは、僕の記憶を呼び起こす、近所の団地にもあった、造りがそっくりな廊下。
To-Mo-Kun! Are-You-Home!?
When we were kids, we used to yell out friend's names from down stairs to invite out to play with.  No appointment was necessary, because we were all expecting some one to invite, and be invited otherwise.  Games were, hide and seek to steal the can, robbers cops, plastic bat base ball. What was extremely exciting was the robbers cops.  Usually, if there are 10 kids, 2 or 3 will play cops to catch the robbers.  If a robber is caught, they will be taken to the jail (some particular place such as a little space by a big tree) until other robbers come out and tuch for help.  It needed speed and timing control, and brave heart.  The hall way of apartment building was a great run away place, and easily caught place at the same time.
This day, although it was a holiday, there were no signs of kids running and cheering around this very old apartment building.  Just a memory of mine was reminded by a similar design construction.

とおせんぼ Blockage

このゲートはどれくらいここに立っているのかしら？　幅が狭いのは、歩行者用入口に車が進入するのを防止するため。　両方の柱のトップは、皆が触ったり叩いたりで、いびつな感じに。　これから先も、何年も通せんぼしていくのだな。

This little rail blocks cars from entering pedestrian rout.  Its pillar top is been pat and hit for years and years that has dents and scratches.  How many more years will it be here, keep up with the good work.

超花 Super Flower

実家近くの須賀神社入口にある石造りの門柱の上。　ケナゲにもヒビから草花が咲き、神社の参拝者を迎えては見送っている。　自然の力はすごい！
On the top of a concrete gate column, a little flower is greeting visitors to the Suga Shrine near my mom's house she grew up in.  What a nature power!

反射光 REFLECTION

今は夜。空に浮かぶは月。　月とここの間には雲。　その雲も、月明かりに照らされる表面と、少し陰っている部分は、薄くグレーに。　月の反射率って、高い。　こんなに明るく光って、闇を照らしている。　金星からも地球って、これほどの明るさを見せているのかなぁ？

It is midnight now.  Clouds are showing contrast of brightness and darkness affected by the glowing moonlight.  Reflected Sun light on the moon is very bright.  I wonder if we can see our mother Earth so bright from the Venus....

ゾウの鼻 Elephant Trunk

ゾウのお食事シーン。人間の家族1週間分ぐらいの料の食事が置いてあった…。静かに、ノッソリのっそり。井の頭公園のはな子。御歳59歳！？ゾウって、そんなに長生きするのか～。
Elephant feast.  She was eating 1 week worth of food for 4 people as lunch....  Dzoom, Bzooom.  She is Hanako, Asian Elephant residing in Inokashira-Zoo, excuse me to revile her age, 59!  I did not know elephant lives so long.

幹に葉っぱがつくのはなぜ？
枝ではなく、太い幹。
他の葉っぱは皆上の、多かい所に居るよ？
それでも、ここが良いの？
個性的だね。

大きな笛！？ Giant flute!?

穴の向こう。　とあるトンネルを進むと天井に直径2メートルぐらいの穴が。　のぞいてみると、空と横のビルが！　採光のためか、空気抜きのためか、50メートルぐらいのトンネルに開いた穴四つ。　ちょっと不思議でチャーミング。
In a tunnel only about 50m (about 45 yards) long, there are 4 holes in the sealing that is showing the sky and a building.  Is it for bringing in sun light, or for air ventilation?  Isn't it mysterious and charming!?

幸運は自分の手で！ Grab your own fortune!

ある神社の境内で、お御籤がたくさん結んであった。　正月に比べれば少ないのかもしれないが、量的には結構なもの。　運はコントロールできないが、運にめぐり合う努力はできる。　その道しるべが、お御籤なのかなぁ？と思ったりして。

At a temple, fortune slip is tied on a string (so to pray for good luck).  There seems to be less slips tied compared to new year days, but still there was a lot.  I think, "fortune" is uncontrollable, yet it is approachable if you prepare (work hard) and, fortune slip is a guide for your direction of "fortune".

昔懐かし Good old days

僕が小学生のころ、町の文房具や、駄菓子屋、喫茶店には、パックマンゲームに群がる大人や子供。　ワォワォワォ、パクパクパク、ってね。
懐かしくて、涙が出ちゃう。

When PackMan was a big hit, a elementary schooler, like me, went to stationary shops, candy store, and cafe to adventure the thril.

枝より幹 TRUNK not a branch

直径１．５メートルはあろうかと言うイチョウの大木。　幹の表面に顔みたいなものが二つ。　面白いと思っていたが、それより目立たず、もっと面白いのが、いきなり生える、1枚の葉っぱ…。　おい、葉っぱよ、なぜ枝に生えない！？
幹の中央、ちょっと下に葉っぱあり。
The almost 5 feet trunk of this ginkgo tree has two faces, which caught my eye.  But, as I approached to take a closer look, I was amaized to to see such a cute leaf.  Oh little leaf, why did you not chose a branch up in the ari, but this trunk, as your settling point?
The leaf is right in the center of the trunk, look down a little bit, its hard to see.

暮らし Living

コンクリート、ガラス、鉄、樹脂、木材、英知、デザイン、技術。　実に美しい光景だ。　このビルの中では、家族は団欒を、ビジネスマンは仕事を、左の建設中のビルでは、職人が腕をふるって内装を仕上げている。　日は沈み、遠く離れた発電所から明かりが届き、家では夕飯の支度が始り、オフィスでは残業を始めるビジネスマンが、現場では職人が納期までフル回転。
続く都市開発を横目に、公園の緑に癒されよう。

Concrete, glass, metal, plastic, wood, intellecual design and technology makes a beautiful skyscraper.  Inside these buildings, there are family whose mothers and wives, or whoever is preparing dinner.  In offices, people are working overtime, and the building to the right, construction almost done, workers a rapping up their work getting ready to welcome tenants.

In the leer of the continuing urban development, what is healing is the green of a park.

ベルギー大使館です。
ものすごく、きれいで、立体的な建物は、その辺のXYZ軸でしかできていないビルとは違い、落ち着いたたたずまい。　近代的なデザインの中に、遊び心も、クラフトマンシップも顔をのぞかす。

Recently built office building.

This is the new Belgium Embassy building.  Unlike ordinary box designed buildings, it has craftsmanship type of design, special wall design on the top of being stately building.

バケツ一杯の筆 Bucket full of Pens

文房具屋さんって、なぜか凄く入りやすいお店。　多分、一番頻度多く足を運ぶ所では。　しかも、必ずペン売り場やノート売り場をくまなく見てしまう。　だからと言って、文房具に詳しいわけじゃないけど、昔から、ペンとノートを買う癖がある。
A stationery store is one of the best place I can casually visit.  Perhaps, it is somewhere I visit most often.  Don't know why, but I can't resist buying pens and note books.

そういえば！ BTW!

これは、とある会社に浸透印のアイディアとして、僕がデッサンした、ペン型スタンプ。　友人の誘いで、グループディスカッションを行った時、つい白熱して、製品の企画までやってしまった。　手帳とかに、素早くアイコンで予定やメモを付けるためにデザインしたんだけど、世に出てたりして！？
Couple years ago, I drew this to a stamp manufacturer.  Through my friend, I attended a group discussion and got to excited that I came up with a new product.... It is to quickly stamp an icon on your memo or diary.  I wonder if it ever came out to the market!?

暫亭 SHIBARAKU TEI

新鮮な素材と味。　外食産業がもっとも気を使う所。　味はお客様との一番大事なインターフェースだから。　とは、気さくさとサービス、それと雰囲気が良ければ、僕はリピータになりたい。　会社の大先輩が紹介してくださったこの店、頻度は少ないかもしれないが、顔は覚えていただいた。
お薦めは…、全部。　でも、個人的には鳥刺系が大好き。

For restaurant owners, freshness of food and taste is what they would care the most.  If the atmosphere, service and friendliness comes with it,  I will become a repeater.  My former boss first took me here several years ago, and I had to become a regular.

My recommendation is..., well everything.  But, I exclusively love series of Tori-Sashi (chicken sashimi).

このハナ、というか、実、なんだろう？　朱色、オレンジ、ピンク、赤茶、小さなツブツブっとした実。　実にかわいらしい。

I wonder what this little twinkling bubbling flower/fruit/seed kind of plant sitting quietly behind a milk boy delivery bike is.

事業継続計画 Business Continuity Plan

写真は、都内某所の路地においてあったプランター水田。　１合分はご飯が収穫できると思う…。
自社のサーバーや工場が、ある一か所に集中しているのは、集中型オペレーションには都合がよい。　しかし、災害や事故が起こったら！？　その被害の大きさによっては、復旧には相当な時間がかかるか、廃業に追い込まれる恐れさえある。　そのために、サーバのクローンを別の地域に作ったり、工場も離れた場所で複数運営する。　災害が起こっても、その被害を最小限に抑え、且つ、早期復旧が可能である。　９０％の米国優良企業のように、利益を生む企業は、BCPに力を入れており、ひじょうに頼りになる。

かに CRAB

ある日の隅田川沿い。　遊歩道を歩いていると、川と遊歩道の間にある、人工の小川に、沢山のカニ！　結構サイズもしっかりしていて、驚いた。　土に穴を掘って、人が通ると、ササッと隠れる。
そう、緯度で言えば（35.707038,139.797431）辺り。

I have no idea what this crab is called.  But, by Sumida River, along the sidewalk, there is a little man-made creek full of these crabs!  They dig their crib and hide when some one passes near by.

雪だるま Snowman

実は、暑いのが嫌い。　最近涼しくなってきたので、嬉しい。　蝉が鳴くと、暑さが増すので、やはり嫌い。　でも、それはスーツを着てないといけない時。　遊んでる時は、それほど気にしない。　子供って、どんなに暑くても、へっちゃら。

I hate heat.  Nowadays, it is getting cooler and I really appreciate that.  Cicada makes me feel hotter, so I hate them.  But, that is when I have to ware formal.  After 5 O'clock, I don't really care.

Kids are really numb at high temperature. Does that little snowman on the saddle connecting chain, has to do something with lowering the temperature?

アイディア Ideas

知識があるより、ひらめきのある人になりたい。

脳科学者の茂木先生曰く、人は仕事をしている時より、ぼうっとしてたり、ゆったりと休んでるときに、良いアイディアに巡り合う、という。

その、ボーっとしている時、頭の中では、「ディフォルトネットワーキング」という事が起こっているらしい。違う場所や時に記憶した事柄が、突然結びつく。セレンディピティと言う。

Being creative than smart is what author wishes to be.

Brain researcher, Dr. Mogi suggests that brain will start "default networking" when its not used.  During the hard work, brain will concentrate on what its body is doing.  During the break time, when people are daydreaming, or doing something else, "default networking" connects memories and become a great idea, which is called a "serendipity".

武器 UTENSILs

腹が減っては、良い草は食えぬ。 誰も　言ったことが無いと思うが…。　腹が減っては、仕事が出来ず、収入が減り、良い草、つまり素敵なディナーにありつけない、という事だ。　昔、親友の原ポプーが言ってた。

尻水筒 Flask

良く、西部劇でカウボーイが、おしりのポケットに入れている湾曲した小さな水筒。あの中身って、ウイスキーが入ってる。　もともとは、イギリスから来たものらしい。従来は銀やピューターという金属で作っていたものを、今はステンレスやチタンで作るんだとさ。
You probably saw a cowboy drinking whiskey from a FLASK, conveniently slips in/out the back pocket on their pants.  It seems like they were originally made in England.  Than used to be silver or pewter nowadays are made from stainless or titanium....

デカブツ A Giant

この入り組んだ鉄骨の先に、建物の一部がのぞいている。　ずいぶん遠くに、しかも高くそびえる建物。　離れた場所から見ると、あれほどきれいに立っているのに、力の分散は、角度を変えると、こうもハチャメチャに見えるんだなぁ。 和音と不協和音の共存する場所、かな。
You can see the tip of the tower through metal beams. Far, and high up in the air. Observing the tower from a distance, columns dispersing the mass is forming a perfect physical arpeggio. But from right underneath, it now turns to a Suspiratio. What a balance.

ソラ sky

気持のよい、幾何学的なソラ。　すがすがしい風が、谷から谷をめぐり、渦を巻きながら消えていく。　空を眺めていたいが、首が痛いので、ここいらでやめておこう。
Such a beautiful, geometrical sky. Vally to Vally, breeze runs through, only to whirl around their little world. Want to look more? But our neck is getting sore. So I suggest, that we all should rest.

束縛 Captivity

手足をもがれたわけじゃない。　ちゃんと両輪付いてるし、ペダルもハンドルも付いてる。　タイヤに空気を入れれば好きなところに、ゆっくりと風をすり抜けることができそうだ。　あせらず、地道に、行こうよ。　この縄につながれた木製の滑車が取れたら・・・。
It's not that I can't move.. I have both wheels, pedals, and a steering bar. Put some air in the tire tube so that you can weave through the air. Calm down, no fear. All will happen after the wooden pulley is pulled away.

選ぶ権利があるのは、素晴らしいことだ。　でも、シンプルを好む人もいる。　選択の余地がごまんとあるとき、あなたはどうする？
Capability of choosing is wonderful. Some people likes simple ideas. Where would you go, if you are given millions of choices?

清々しく、怖い・・・ Beautifully Scary Height

橋の続き。橋脚の所で、上を見上げると、遮るのは橋のワーヤーと、気持ちよく浮かぶ雲。　周りにビルが無く、あるのは人間が海にかけた橋。　昔、鮫洲のあたりまで海だった時代、誰がこの橋が出来ることを想像しただろうか・・・。　しかし、上を見ても、下を見るほどに怖かった。
This is the same bridge author mentioned in his previous article. As they reached the bridge column, he looks up to witness only wires and clouds before beautiful sky.
Once up on a time, when shore line was at Samezu area, who ever imagined, here will be a bridge....

丸腰 UNARMED

昔から、何度も車やゆりかもめでわたったことがある橋。友人と一緒に歩いてわたってみた。　アホか・・・。　こんなに怖い物だったとは！　橋の端っこに引っかかった感じの歩道を歩いていると、橋のこれほどまでの高さと怖さが浮き彫りに。　それまで、車や電車と言った「車内」という鎧に包まれ、全く分からなかった。　でも、眺めはよく、気分も爽快だったので、また歩きたいと思う！
Author has crossed this bridge by car and Yuri-Kamome train quite often. But, he never actually felt the height and frighted being exposed to the height. He was protected by being inside the car and train.... Oh, but this tour is recommended to all of you because, its scenery and excitement is publicly open with no crossing fee what so ever!

ターゲット違い？ Wrong Target

友人と池袋を歩いていると、四角い石で出来た椅子みたいな処に、雑誌が数冊あった。数ブロック回ってからまたそこを通りかかると、こんなことに・・・。　これは、明らかに、ターゲット（市場）の読み間違えだね。　何冊配ったかにもよるかもしれないけど、こんなに多くを捨てていく人たちが居るというのは勿体無い配り方。
でも、そもそもどうしてこんなところに捨てていくことが出来るのかが不思議。
This stack of magazine was not as this high when author and his friend walked by half an hour earlier. Obviously, who ever wanted to distribute the magazine made a mistake in terms of where and who to give out. Off course, it depends on how many others took the magazine back home to enjoy the contents.
Yet, author is more puzzled to why they were left on a stoned stool by the street....

デジタルには無い「味」 BEAUTY OF ANALOGUE

どうして昔のものは、スタイリッシュか？　車や、卓上ランプ、テレビやラジオと言った物は実にぬくもりがあって良い。　今は大量生産のために効率の良い「格好」をしているが、物作りや職人技のような、「デザイン」性は感じないね。
このタイプライターみたいな物は、実は計算機。　僕も初めて見たが、昔の会社でお世話になっていた工場を訪れたときにあったもの。今でも現役で、数字とコマンドを設定し、横にあるハンドルを”クルクルチン”ってまわすとちゃんと答えが出てくる。　だめ元でねだってみたが、やはり駄目だった・・・。
Cars, desk lamps, TVs, radios and so many other product designs used to be so beautiful. Though we understand that today's manufactured products are best designed for mass production, and not to value as craft designed, it is really boring not to be surrounded in products designed like this calculator. This typewriter looking calculator has slots to fix numbers and a dial to rotate the system to mach calculation.
Because of its design, author asked if the owner could give it to him, off course the answer was "nope"....

写真の善し悪しというより、こういう写真が筆写は撮りたかった。花の部分にピント合わせて（写真は少しBokehてるみたいだけど）、ほかはぼかして。接写用のレンズだと、もっと面白いかもしれないけど、まずは金をかけずに、もっているレンズ、Zuiko, 25mm, 14-42mm, 40-150mmの３本でお勉強♪　ちなみに、ボケはBOKEHとして、和製英語になっているようで。
Before arguing about how artistic or not, this is a kind of photo he wanted to take. Focus on the flower and BOKE on everything else. One may suggest to use a close-up lens, but the photograph-101er should begine with what he has; Zuiko, 25mm, 14-42mm, and 40-150mm♪

小さくて大きな一歩！ A BIG SMALL STEP

カナダ大使館横にある、高橋是清翁記念公園にへんてこな石像が。昔、小学生のころノートの端に書いたロボットの漫画に似た顔をしているが、いったい何ナンだろう！？
筆写がこの写真を撮った頃は、カメラ設定、「Aモード」を初めて知り。これを知ってからは、兎に角Aモードで撮りまくり、友人に笑われた。Aモードとは、深度の幅をコントロールできるAperture、つまり絞り優先モード。これを知ると、あこがれだった、「欲しいところにピントを合わせ、ほかはボカす」写真が撮れる！この辺から、いろんなレンズや、ボディが気になってしまってる・・・。
This strange stone statue stands in Takahashi Korekiyo Memorial Park located next to the Canadian Embassy, looks like the graffiti author used to write in his note book when he was in school.
Author took this picture after He learned about "Aperture" settings. Aperture controls depth of focus area, which makes the picture look so cool. Suddenly, all of his photos were taken using A-mode that made his friend laugh at him. He is also the one who dragged the author into this exciting world of "photographing"....

全自動からのスタート AUTO WAS ALL ABOUT

この獣道、AUTOモードで撮ったが、それが精一杯だった（もう少し地面にピントが合ってればなぁ）。しかし、昔と違って、壱眼でも気軽に撮影できる様になったので、理解が早い！　昔は、現像するまで待たなければならない上に、現像できたところで、どうやって撮ったかなんて覚えてる訳ないもんね・・・。昔のカメラマンって、練習にお金が掛かったんだろうな〜。
Author's best skill utilized to take this animal path (hmm, wanted more focused on the ground) was to set the camera to "AUTO" mode. Thanks to digital technology, he now doesn't feel hesitant using SLR camera and worry about wasting film. Professional photographers before digital era must have spent tons of money to practice controlling picture quality and technique....
